While watching President Obama answer a question regarding the tax rates I found something particularly interesting: President Obama acknowledges that he will have to compromise part of his budget in order to arrive to an agreement in the new tax rates before the fiscal cliff. He continued by saying that he is open new ideas from Republicans that raise revenue.
As Professor Dickovick pointed out on Nov. 12, 2012, the two most mainstream solutions to the fiscal cliff is to either raise revenue or reduce spending. With that said, is President Obama implying that he has no plan in reduced public spending? I would be interested to know what President Obama has to say regarding his public spending policy.
Overall, I think that this first press conference thus has more policy substance than the entire presidential campaign from both sides.
